🌟 Understanding Evaluations: Features, Use Cases, and Benefits

Evaluations are a helpful tool for regularly reflecting on your goals and competencies. They provide a transparent overview of personal development β€” especially with regard to assigned competency cards. This article explains the key features, when to use them, and what happens in special situations.


πŸ” Where do I find evaluations?

From the dashboard, navigate to the Evaluations section via the left sidebar. There are two tabs:

  • Active β€” ongoing evaluations that can still be worked on

  • Past β€” evaluations that have already been completed


βœ… Active evaluations

In the Active tab, evaluations are divided into two areas:

  • Teams (top) β€” evaluations in which you act as the evaluator, for example as a manager

  • Personal (bottom) β€” evaluations in which you yourself are being evaluated or are providing a self-assessment

πŸ’‘ Evaluations that have expired but not yet been completed are marked with a red bar β€” they can however still be filled in.


πŸš€ Starting an evaluation

There are two ways to start an evaluation:

  • Click directly on the desired evaluation

  • Or select "Start evaluation series" to start multiple evaluations at once


πŸ’€ Skipping an evaluation

If you or someone in your team is unavailable, an evaluation can be skipped. Click on the three dots in the top right corner of the relevant evaluation and select the appropriate reason.

Depending on who skips, the effects differ:

πŸ“ Past evaluations

In the Past tab you will find all completed evaluations. Only evaluations that have been completed by both parties are fully visible here.

Skipped evaluations also appear in this tab β€” they are marked accordingly as "skipped" so that the full history remains traceable.


πŸ”„ What happens when someone leaves the team or an evaluation pair is dissolved?

If a person leaves the team β€” manually, via CSV, or through an integration β€” the following happens automatically:

  • The evaluation pair is deleted

  • Active cards for this evaluation pair are archived

  • Existing, active evaluations remain active

Still active but expired evaluations may still be present or may have already been deleted, depending on the administrative clean-up process. This depends on how the admin dissolved the evaluation pair β€” when manually deactivating directly on the evaluation pair page, there is an option to delete existing evaluations. When removing an employee directly from the team list, this option does not appear.


πŸƒ Cards & evaluation creation β€” what you need to know

An evaluation is automatically created when:

  • On the start day of the period an active card exists for the evaluation pair, or

  • During the ongoing period a card is selected β€” even on the last day of the period

Important: Cards are always linked to the evaluation pair. If the pair is dissolved, the card is archived. It cannot be transferred to a new pair β€” it must be selected again for the new pair. If a new evaluation pair is formed within an open period, selecting a card immediately creates a new evaluation for the current period.
